Quarantine Quizzes

As COVID-19 totally threw 2020 for a loop, I went to the drawing board (literally) to find a way to accomplish two goals:

1) Support the large number of struggling local businesses who were relying on takeout/delivery services due to mandated closures

2) Incentivize staying at home by giving the community something fun to do while “trapped” inside

Out of several brainstorm sessions, the Quarantine Quiz series was born—an online trivia quiz that participants would join for $1 to compete for a prize in the form of a gift card (valued at whatever dollar amount was collected from participation fees) to a local business of the winner’s choice. These quizzes became massively successful, which was a total surprise. People tuned in from all over the country, despite the fact that I had originally expected it to be an Orlando-only kind of deal—and over the course of four quizzes, over 400 people participated. The quizzes were marketed only through organic social posts, with dumb little drawings made by yours truly.
