LET’S TALK
about you and me.
Got a question you want answered, a story to be told, or just a fun idea you want to share? Whatever it is, I want to hear from you!
ABOUT ME
So, who is this “Lex Winship” you speak of?
The sum of some parts, including the tendency to get way too existential about what was intended to be a simple “About Me” section.
TL;DR:
30/F/Florida. Lover of story-telling, people-connecting, and information-collecting. Believes very fully that being a fan of the Oxford comma is decidedly not a personality, but supporting the em dash—in all of its beauty, versatility and under-appreciated-ness—most definitely is.
I love:
Stories. Happy stories, sad stories. Big stories, little-stories-that-are-actually-kinda-big stories. True stories, fantastical stories. I love hearing them and I love telling them—and I love discovering what exactly it is that makes a good story good.
Creating. I love making things and participating in the evolution of an idea—the process of brainstorming, collaborating, and testing concepts, with the final result often being so different (and so much better) than ever imagined at the start. It’s the reason I’m a terrible recipe cook (but a pretty decent kitchen improviser) and have a shameless love of improv comedy.
Community. I really love people and am passionate about finding ways to make all of us feel a little less alone on this random spinning globe suspended in space. If I could have my life—and my career—be about one thing, I’d want it to be fostering connection and contributing to a culture of welcoming that makes people feel like they’re part of a whole they can be proud of.
Research. Or stalking, as some haters might call it. Whether it’s locating information on a donor prospect, trying to discover what makes a certain person/group of people tick, tracking down the cute guy who sat next to my friend in a 3,000 person class, or hunting down the final piece of data that makes a puzzle of information finally make sense—there’s a reason Nancy Drew was (and uh, still is) my idol. My love of both question-asking and answer-finding has led me to create many a social media survey and has contributed to countless sleepless nights spent attempting to unravel the mysteries of the world.
So, that’s me, I guess?
